Main Street Small Business Meets AI

The picture in this blog article is of Main Street in Madison, GA, the hometown of Teclaz. On the corner of Main Street and East Jefferson sits the historic town firehouse constructed in 1887. This building serves as the Madison Morgan County Welcome Center on the first floor, and as The Wheelhouse on the second floor, which is our county’s small business and entrepreneurial epicenter. It’s a place where entrepreneurs gather, conversations spark ideas, and Main Street business meets AI.

There is no shortage of conversations around AI, but how are real everyday small businesses actually using and paying for AI solutions? An article by JPMorgan Chase analyzed anonymized banking transactions from 4.6 million small businesses between 2019 and 2025 which reveals exactly how Main Street is adopting AI.

Small businesses traditionally lagged behind larger competitors when adopting new technology due to tight budgets and a lack of technical expertise. We see AI breaking this pattern. The JP Morgan Chase 2019 Cohort took over six years to reach a 10% AI adoption rate. The 2025 JP Morgan Chase Cohort reached that same 10% AI adoption rate in just six months. Modern AI solutions are cloud-based and feature natural language interfaces, reducing the technical barriers to entry. The ease of AI adoption has enabled newer businesses to embed AI into their work and companies from Day 1.

There were 70% more consistent AI users in 2025 than sporadic ones, and the number of firms paying for three or more distinct AI services grew from under 1% in 2019 to 9% in 2025. Despite the increasing usage of AI, adoption isn't equal across the board. The report highlighted that small businesses with employees adopt AI at nearly twice the rate of non-employer solo-preneurs. This gap exists regardless of revenue. Small employers with lower revenue adopt AI faster than high-revenue solo-preneurs, suggesting that having team members to help research, test, and implement AI is more critical than financial resources.

More small businesses have access to affordable AI and the window for gaining a real competitive advantage will come from operational integration and how deeply and creatively you connect these AI solutions to your core business processes to save time, reduce friction, and better serve your customers. At Teclaz, we build that exact bridge for small businesses. Our AI analytics solution transforms raw website data into clear, actionable operational insights, allowing Main Street entrepreneurs to optimize their processes without needing a team of data scientists.
